Aston Villa to make fresh move for Croatian goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic?

Croatian international goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic is rumoured to have arrived in Birmingham to discuss a switch between Belgian club Gent and Aston Villa.

Aston Villa are reportedly making good progress in their attempt to sign goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic from Belgian side Gent.

The Villans previously missed out on the 28-year-old in the 2015-16 season, which ended with them dropping down to the Championship.

According to the Birmingham Mail, however, Villa are back in for Kalinic and could strike a deal as soon as the transfer window officially opens in two weeks' time.

Kalinic joined Gent from Hajduk Split in January 2017 and was named the Belgian top-flight's best keeper in his first half-season, earning rumoured interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.

The report indicates that Villa are in a strong position to sign the 14-cap Croatia international, though, with the player said to be in Birmingham to discuss a move.
