Aston Villa youngster Lamare Bogarde has allegedly emerged as a transfer target for two European giants.

Having spent much of the last two campaigns on loan with Bristol Rovers in League One, the 21-year-old's future at Villa Park appeared to be up in the air.

However, having been kept in Unai Emery's first-team squad for 2024-25, Bogarde has proven to be a valuable squad member during a hectic six-month period.

Seven starts and four substitute outings have been made in all competitions, the former Netherlands Under-21 international being used in a variety of different roles.

Bogarde has recently featured in victories over Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur, his stock in the West Midlands on the rise, yet it appears that clubs from the continent have started to take note.

Which European giants want Bogarde?

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, both Sevilla and Ajax have placed Bogarde on their shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Bogarde having less than 18 months remaining on his contract, he is seemingly viewed as an attractive young option for clubs who could benefit from such a signing.

In the case of García Pimienta, he is trying to secure a return to the top 10 of the La Liga table with Sevilla, the seven-time UEFA Cup/Europa League winners still in a transitional period.

Meanwhile, Ajax are currently level on points with Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven having undergone a remarkable transformation in Francesco Farioli's first season in charge.

Bogarde's only notable experience of football in his homeland is making 19 appearances for Feyenoord's Under-17 side prior to his transfer to Villa.

What will Villa's stance be?

As it stands, it remains unclear whether Bogarde will ever be able to hold down a regular spot in the side when everyone is fit.

Furthermore, Villa's hierarchy may be unable to turn down any notable offers for his signature. Having been signed as a youngster, there is an opportunity to make a substantial profit in the eyes of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

From Emery's perspective, though, he can benefit from having a player at his disposal who can be used at right-back, centre-back and central midfield.

With another versatile prospect having been signed on Monday, it emphasises that the Spaniard may be placing greater importance on that profile of player. body check tags ::
