Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made an approach for highly-rated Saint-Etienne defender and Arsenal transfer target William Saliba.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo is said to be keen on adding reinforcements this summer and has placed emphasis on securing another central defender.

The 18-year-old enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in Ligue 1 last season, making a total of 16 appearances as Saint-Etienne finished fourth in the table, and he has consequently attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Yahoo Sport, Wolves have joined the race and approached the French club over Sailiba's availability.

Arsenal reportedly lodged a bid worth £22.5m for Saliba to stave off interest from Spurs last week, but Saint-Etienne rejected the offer.

The Ligue 1 side, who value Saliba at around £26m, are determined to keep the talented youngster in France for another season.
