That marks a stark contrast to his debut campaign, when the former Sampdoria man became a favourite among Gunners fans, making 50 appearances across all competitions.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Uruguayan is going to meet with Unai Emery next week as he seeks clarification about his role moving forward and if he is not satisfied, he will push for a move in January.

Torreira was linked with a return to Italy in the summer, with AC Milan particularly interested in his services.
