Arsenal eye Jean-Philippe Gbamin as Samuel Umtiti alternative?

Arsenal consider a £30m swoop for Mainz 05 centre-back Jean-Philippe Gbamin, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly considering a summer swoop for Mainz 05 centre-back Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

The Gunners are expected to move for at least one central defender at the end of the season and have been linked with a move for Barcelona's Samuel Umtiti.

Umtiti is reportedly heading for Juventus, though, which has forced Arsenal into a rethink.

According to Fussball Transfers, Gbamin is available for £30m in this summer's transfer window and Unai Emery's side are eyeing a swoop for the 23-year-old.

Gbamin, who is a five-time Ivory Coast international, has played in both midfield and defence for Mainz during the 2018-19 campaign.
