Chelsea 'not giving up hope' on Osimhen deal
Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to give up on their pursuit to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen before the transfer window slams shut tonight.
Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to Al Ahli, though the Saudi Pro League club are also said to be in advanced stages of agreeing a deal for Brentford forward Ivan Toney.
It is understood that Toney has already undergone a medical in London ahead of a move to the Middle East later today.
Al Ahli cannot sign both the England international and Osimhen, which means that the latter may be available for Chelsea to make a late move on.

Transfer news and rumours today: One in, one out at Wolves? Doak's Liverpool future
Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Daniel Podence is reportedly on the brink of moving to the Saudi Pro League.
Upon his return from a loan stint with Olympiacos, the expectation had been that Podence would return to Greece or go elsewhere.
Instead, the 28-year-old has been reintegrated into the squad and started Wednesday's EFL Cup tie against Burnley, a game in which he impressed.
However, as per Sky Sports News, Podence is closing in on a transfer to Al Shabab in a deal worth in the region of £5m plus add-ons.

League Two roundup!
It's been a busy day in League Two today, so a quick roundup of a few more done deals from the English fourth tier...
"I was at Fleetwood since I was young, I broke through there and went on loan a couple of times - league and non-league - and 2022 on deadline day in January, I got a call saying I was moving to Everton and I have been there ever since.
"My whole family are Evertonians and it's been great working with Jordan Pickford every day.
"Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be a goalkeeper, diving around and getting muddy!
"It felt right to get out on loan now and I want to play as much as I can. Everton wanted me to play some games, there were a couple of clubs interested, including Accrington, and I was happy to come and hopefully I can help the team.
"As goalkeepers we all understand there is only one spot and we will push each other. Most of the time goalkeepers get on and understand how hard the position is. I just want to play as many minutes as I can."
Kian Harratt becomes Fleetwood's ninth summer signing
"I would like to start by thanking each and every one of you Bradford City fans for your incredible support throughout my time here.
"I was faced with some very different and challenging circumstances last season, but always tried to give everything for the club, and you thankfully recognised and appreciated that. You have all been immense.
"As a player, I was supported fantastically well from the start, and then even more so during my stint as manager, before I felt even more love when I returned to playing.
"I have really enjoyed my time here, and made some great friends, but ultimately, people move on in football. The club is in fantastic hands, and I can only see success for it moving forward.
"Thank you to Ryan Sparks for everything he has done for me, professionally and personally, throughout my time here. He has been open and honest with me the whole time. It was a smooth transition into the player manager role, and has been the same since.
"Finally, thank you to all the staff and, in particular, all of the players who I have had the pleasure of sharing the dressing room with. The lads who were here last season understood my situation, and were absolutely bang on, throughout the whole process, as they have been as teammates.
"I wish everyone at the club the very best."

Salford bring in Tanzania international Haji Mnoga
"It feels really, really good. It's been a long window so I'm happy to get this over the line now and I'm really excited to get going.
"I'm looking forward to it to be fair, the last time I came here it didn't go as well as expected so I'm looking forward to it, I'm looking forward to kicking on and doing well.
"I had a nice conversation with the manager. He said he's excited to work with me and I'm excited to work with him as well, he seems like a manager that can really push me and get the best out of me.
"I'd say I can bring pace, I can bring power. I like a tackle, I'm a defender who likes defending but I also like playing and I like getting forward and contributing to attacks for the team."

Tottenham loan Josh Keeley to Leyton Orient
"I'm absolutely delighted to get the move over the line. I couldn't be happier and I hope to achieve some really good things here. The team looks really strong, and I've watched some of the games so far this season. There are high goals for this squad and I can't wait to get going," he told the club website.
"I love to play with the ball at my feet, that is definitely one of my main strengths. I want to get involved with play with the outfielders and start attacks.
"I know Jamie (Donley) and Ollie (O'Neill), and they've said really good things about the place, so I'm really excited to get going."
Head Coach Richie Wellens added: "We're really pleased that Josh will be part of our squad for the 2024-25 campaign. He will come in to provide some real competition in our goalkeeping department.
"It's an important next step in his career, and we know that he will come in and give his all for the club. He's highly rated by Spurs, and also has international experience, as well as having a successful loan spell at Barnet last season. Financially, it's a really good deal for us, and we're excited to have Josh on board."

"I felt the love the full time I was here last year and I'm just buzzing to be back."
Head Coach Carlos Corberan added: "Mikey is a player who needs no introduction to this club, and I am happy he is back with us.
"The impact he made with us last season cannot be underestimated and he adds proven quality to our squad.
"At just 25 his best years are still ahead of him, and this is a signing which shows the long-term ambitions of our club.
"Mikey has shown his commitment to the club and its fans, who I am sure will be excited to see him back in our shirt."
Chelsea confirm loan exit of 2023-24 regular
Chelsea have confirmed that Strasbourg have signed goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic on a season-long loan deal.
Although Petrovic was initially brought in as one of Mauricio Pochettino's backup options for 2023-24, he ultimately established himself as first choice.
The Serbia international impressed during the second half of last season as Chelsea reached the EFL Cup final, FA Cup semi-finals and finished sixth in the Premier League.
However, upon the arrival of Enzo Maresca as head coach, it quickly became apparent that the 24-year-old had no future at Chelsea in the short term.

"Maybe it is a mistake": Guardiola comments on Man City transfer stance
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that the Premier League champions will not get involved in any late transfer business.
City went into deadline day having only added former midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and winger Savinho to their ranks at a time when there have been a wide array of outgoings.
While many of them have been largely insignificant with regards to last season's squad, Guardiola has watched key attacker Julian Alvarez leave for Atletico Madrid.
The expectation was that City would eventually enter the market for another squad member for the final third, someone who could act as deputy to Erling Haaland and perhaps be deployed in other roles.

"I always think about the qualities he has as a footballer and obviously losing Hamzad (Kargbo), who had his shoulder surgery this week, we fall short in terms of strikers. We felt Hudlin would be the best option for us to provide the cover we felt we needed.

Brentford have reportedly agreed a deal with Augsburg over the loan departure of Frank Onyeka.

Chelsea have reportedly made an official approach for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
Signing a new centre-forward is known to be Chelsea's priority on transfer deadline day with each of Brentford's Ivan Toney and Napoli's Victor Osimhen on their radar.
However, co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, as well as the club's recruitment team, are seemingly open to all kinds of business before Friday's 11pm deadline.
The Blues are hopeful of finding a home for Raheem Sterling, who is not wanted by Enzo Maresca, and there are enough wingers in the squad where the England international would not necessarily need to be replaced.

...and one arrival
Swindon have made their second signing of deadline day, with Dan Barden joining on loan from Norwich.
"I'm really excited to be here, it's happened all quite quickly but excited to start the work for the team," he told the club website.
"It happened pretty quickly when I was told Swindon were interested so I think where I was in my career, it was a move that made sense for me.
"This is an opportunity where after speaking with the Head Coach and the Goalkeeping Coach who have given me the chance to be involved in league football again.
"I want to be pushing for that number one spot in the league."
Head of Football Jamie Russell added: "He's come from Norwich and has experience of playing at Championship level, which is the kind of experience which is vital for the kind of player we're looking for to come into the group.
"What makes Dan even more suited to how we want to set up this season is his mental strength and determination to get back playing and this is shown in the challenges he's faced so far in his career.
"He sets himself a good standard of performance with his showings when he has played at Norwich but also with the likes of Maidstone when he spent time there and we feel he will bring the ideal level of competition for our current goalkeeping set-up.
"We also need to mention the work that our First-Team Goalkeeping Coach Steve Mildenhall (Mildy) has worked tirelessly to get Dan in and he's one that he identified as someone who would be an ideal fit for the kind of goalkeeper we are after to fight for that number one spot."

Saving grace: Ramsdale completes £25m Arsenal exit
Southampton have completed the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal in a deal that could reach up to £25m.
The England international heads for the Emirates exit door following a mixed three years in North London, where he became Mikel Arteta's number one and helped transform the Gunners into serious title challengers.
However, Ramsdale was ruthlessly demoted to second choice behind David Raya last season, and following the Spaniard's permanent arrival from Brentford, a parting of the ways was always expected to materialise this summer.
Southampton will reportedly pay an upfront fee of £18m for the 26-year-old, and Arsenal will receive another £1m if the Saints stay up this season, while another £6m can be banked through performance-related achievements.

"Bristol Rovers has always been a tough place to go. Obviously, the way the fans are, they're always backing the team. They make it a tough place to go for teams, so I can't wait to be a part of that.
"I just want to give 100% every game and score as many goals as I can. Promotion is the end goal for every team in the league, so we'll see how that goes."
Manager Matt Taylor added: "We are pleased to welcome Gatlin to the Club. Despite his young age, Gatlin already has good experience in the EFL and he added to that with a loan move in the National League in the second half of last season.
"We are looking forward to working with Gatlin and helping him improve on his own game throughout the remainder of the season."

Major PSR boost: Chelsea to sell prospect to Strasbourg in near-£18m deal?
Chelsea are reportedly planning to sell Deivid Washington to Strasbourg in order to generate funds before the end of the summer transfer window.
Heading into deadline day, the Blues are attempting to strengthen their forward ranks, seemingly with the acquisition of either Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney.
As it stands, though, it appears more unlikely than not that either deal will get completed given the interest that there is in both players from Saudi Arabia.
Nevertheless, co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are also in a position where they are eager to boost the club's position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations, either through sales or loans.

Neal Maupay completes Everton exit with Marseille loan move
"Neal Maupay has left Everton to join Olympique de Marseille on loan for 2024/25, with the French club having an obligation to buy the forward at the end of the season.
"Maupay moves to the Ligue 1 side after spending the 2023/24 campaign on loan with one of his former clubs Brentford.
"The 28-year-old Frenchman joined Everton in August 2022, making 32 appearances for the Blues and scoring one goal."
Deadline day drama! Toney 'set' for Saudi move in huge Osimhen twist
Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ahli have apparently come to an agreement with Brentford over a move for Ivan Toney, mere moments after it was reported that they were closing in on Victor Osimhen's capture.
Toney has been omitted from Brentford's first two Premier League squads this season on account of his uncertain future, having entered the last 12 months of his deal with Thomas Frank's side.
Back in January, it appeared that a £100m battle was brewing between Arsenal and Chelsea, but the Gunners quickly dropped their interest as Brentford were forced to dramatically drop their asking price.
There had been little movement in Toney's situation before deadline day, although all of Chelsea, Manchester United and Al-Ahli were believed to have been keeping a close eye on developments.

"We could act" - Will Liverpool sign anyone on deadline day?
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has affirmed that he does not expect any new players to arrive at Anfield on transfer deadline day, but the club will be open to the right "opportunity".
At the start of the Premier League season, Liverpool were the only English top-flight side not to have made a single signing, although they have now added two new faces to their ranks.
A bargain £10m deal for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa was secured on Thursday, and the Reds have also signed Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will join Slot's squad in 2025.
However, Liverpool have failed in their efforts to sign a new defensive midfielder, having made a desperate attempt to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, only for the Spaniard to show unwavering loyalty to the La Liga side.

Slot's double blow: Liverpool 'miss out' on two defensive targets
Liverpool are reportedly set to miss out on two of their rumoured defensive targets on deadline day, including a former Arne Slot star.
The Reds have been expected to reinforce their backline throughout the summer window, having seen Joel Matip leave the club at the end of his contract in June.
Long-serving captain Virgil van Dijk is also only contracted to the club for another season, and the Dutchman remained tight-lipped when asked about his future last weekend.
In addition, Joe Gomez has been linked with a move away in recent weeks, although the Englishman is likely to remain at Anfield beyond the 11pm deadline, while Ibrahima Konate has struggled with injuries during his time at Anfield.

Wrexham bring in Mo Faal from West Brom
"I have had a smile on my face since I've been here. I'm excited and thoroughly buzzing to be here - I can't wait to get started," he told the club website.
"I think everyone in the football world now knows just how big of a Club this is, and where it wants to be.
"Ever since I heard about the project that has been going on here, it has been on an upwards trajectory. Over the last couple of years it has been a Club that has really come through and since hearing about all of that and speaking to the gaffer, it made my decision very simple.
"I scored my first professional goal here, and when I came here it was an unbelievable place to play at. The fans are incredible, every single seat was filled. The atmosphere was rumbling and the stadium was absolutely buzzing - to finally be a part of that, It's unbelievable."

"He's an exciting young striker and has had a really good progression in his loan moves in the last couple of seasons; we're really looking forward to working with him."

Pay up: Spurs 'struggling' to agree 28-year-old sale
The future of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso reportedly remains up in the air, as the Lilywhites are not accepting Real Betis' current deal conditions.
The Argentina international was expected to secure a permanent move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer, only to stay and try to prove his worth to Ange Postecoglou.
Lo Celso only momentarily succeeded in that regard, scoring two goals and setting up two more in 22 matches in the 2023-24 Premier League season, and he has not played once competitively so far this season.
As a result, the 28-year-old has inevitably been tipped to finally end his ill-fated North London stint this summer, and a return to Spain has been strongly mooted before the transfer window slams shut.

Sensational swap back on? Chelsea 'receive major Sancho boost'
Juventus have reportedly ended their interest in signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, offering Chelsea fresh hope in their efforts to bring him to Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old was unexpectedly re-integrated into the Red Devils squad in pre-season, having buried the hatchet with Erik ten Hag following their falling out a little under 12 months ago.
Sancho featured regularly for Man United in pre-season, but the winger has been left out of the Red Devils' squad for their opening two Premier League games against Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion.
There is seemingly no end to Sancho's competitive exile, and with the clock ticking on deadline day, the former Borussia Dortmund man is expected to complete a permanent move elsewhere in the coming hours.

Chelsea crushed: Blues 'beaten' to top striker signing by Saudi giants
Chelsea are supposedly set to concede defeat in the race for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is on the verge of joining Saudi side Al-Ahli.
The Blues have been in hot pursuit of the former Lille man throughout the summer transfer window, and his future remained clouded in uncertainty as the clock ticked down on transfer deadline day.
Paris Saint-Germain were originally believed to have been Chelsea's biggest competitors, but in spite of an injury to Goncalo Ramos, the French champions are not pursuing a deal.
Instead, Chelsea were facing an intense battle with Saudi giants Al-Ahli to sign Osimhen, whom Napoli are apparently ready to sell to the Middle Eastern powerhouses for below his £113m release clause.

What of Arsenal's goalkeeping situation?

What to expect from deadline day?
As has been the case all window, and for many of the past windows since Todd Boehly's takeover, Chelsea have stolen many of the headlines as the highest-spending club this summer, and their business is not done yet.
A new striker is on their agenda, with Victor Osimhen thought to be their top target and Ivan Toney considered an option too.
There are also likely to be quite a few outgoings from the Blues' bloated squad - most notably Raheem Sterling, who has brutally been told that he won't get any minutes under Enzo Maresca, and Ben Chilwell, who has been linked with a number of clubs, the latest of which is Brentford.
Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of Manuel Ugarte, Newcastle could make a FIFTH attempt to prise Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and many, many more deals are likely to be done too!
