Nicolas Pepe praises Unai Emery for having "trust" in him

Nicolas Pepe admits he has struggled to live up to the high expectations of becoming Arsenal's record signing but praised head coach Unai Emery for trusting in his ability.

The Ivory Coast international moved to the Emirates Stadium from Lille for £72million in the summer but initially failed to justify that hefty price tag during a difficult start to life in England.

That all changed on Thursday night, however, as he came off the bench to score two free-kicks and secure the Gunners a 3-2 Europa League win over Vitoria.

"But we get on well, we all speak French. For us, it is easy to understand each other. I hope we will play more together.

"As soon as I arrived they helped me. I talked a lot to them. Matteo (Guendouzi) too.

"I also manage to talk to the other players because it is important to learn the language to communicate with everyone."
