Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Wednesday, July 22.

The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected during the summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Wednesday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira talks up Arsenal move

Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira has talked up a possible transfer to Arsenal by admitting that he is a big fan of Mikel Arteta's work at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have been tipped to make a move for the 28-year-old, who has impressed in the centre of Porto's midfield since 2015.

Pereira, believed to be available for £54m, is said to be seen as a better option than Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka in holding midfield.

Amid rumours that Arsenal are prepared to trigger that release clause, the Portugal international revealed that he believes he would fit their system well under Arteta.

"I think [Arteta] is doing a really, really, good job there," he told Stats Perform News. "He is a really good coach who started as the second coach at [Manchester] City, so he has a little experience and Arsenal play very good football and I think he is doing very well there.

"He is a Spanish coach, he is a bit similar to Portuguese coaches, they also want to play with the ball and improve with the ball, so I think he is a good coach. The style I think I can fit there, the way he plays also thinking on the ball, the team always has to be together – I think it is a good way to play.

"Of course I like to be here in Porto, to be here in my country, but I want to be in a better league like the Premier League. I always dreamed about playing in that league.

"I played also in Serie A but I think the Premier League is a huge league and one day I want to play there, to improve to be a better player. I think it's the best league in the world."

Pereira, also previously linked with a switch to Manchester United, is under contract with Porto until 2022.

Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles 'attracting interest from Brighton & Hove Albion'

Versatile Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles is reportedly a summer transfer target for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old is rumoured to be seeking a move away from the Emirates Stadium after struggling to hold down a regular starting spot.

Maitland-Niles, who deputised at left wing-back in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City, still has three years to run on his existing deal.

According to the Evening Standard, Brighton intend to try their luck by making an approach for the former England Under-21s international.

The Gunners are believed to be after around £20m for Maitland-Niles, which they will use to bring in players in other positions.

Brighton secured another season of Premier League football on Monday with a bore draw against Newcastle United.
