Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Thursday, December 17.

The summer transfer window has now closed, with Arsenal pulling off one of the standout deals on deadline day.

The Gunners triggered the release clause of Thomas Partey to cap off a relatively busy summer which saw the likes of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes join too, and attention will now begin to turn to January.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Thursday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Arsenal lining up move for £27m Fabio Vieira?

Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a swoop for Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira.

With Edu confirming at a fans' forum that the Gunners are prioritising a move for a creative player in the near future, Vieira has been mentioned as one of the players who could potentially make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.

The 20-year-old has already turned out 12 times this season for Porto in all competitions, with his solitary goal coming in their Champions League victory over Olympiacos in October.

According to Record, the Gunners could land the Portuguese midfielder should they trigger his release clause of £27m, although a bid would likely be made in the summer rather than in January.

The report claims that a deal could be reached smoothly as Pini Zahavi - who has close ties to Arsenal - represents Vieira, although Marseille are prepared to go head-to-head with the Gunners for his signature.

Vieira has 18 months left to run on his deal with Porto, where he boasts three goals and one assist in 20 appearances.

Arsenal technical director Edu sets out plans for January transfer window

Arsenal technical director Edu has acknowledged that the Gunners squad is lacking the presence of a creative midfielder.

At a time when Mesut Ozil has been left out of Mikel Arteta's plans, Arsenal have scored just 10 goals in a dozen Premier League matches.

The club's transfer plans for the January window were a hot topic for debate during the fans' forum which was held on Tuesday night.

Speaking at the event, Edu admitted that "it was quite clear" what Arsenal required if they were going to make any headway up the standings.

Edu said: "It's quite clear what we need. We need a player with creativity in the middle, we don't have that in the squad right now."

Although Arsenal would ideally like to part ways with Ozil to help fund a new addition, the German is expected to see out the remaining six months of his contract.
