Martin Freeman has said that he is unsure if Sherlock will return but he is open to the possibility for the right script.
The drama, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular detective and Freeman as his assistant Holmes, has run for just 13 episodes between 2010 and 2017.
Asked about the show's future on The Jonathan Ross Show, Freeman replied: "To be truthful I don't know. It's never a completely shut door, but I don't know.
"Personally, I'm a fan of things being finite. I like things ending. I think it's natural for things to end.
"But I'm also a sucker for a good idea and a good script. If something comes up that persuades us all - it would have to be us all - then my door would always be open."
The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday at 10pm on ITV.
