Last of the Summer Wine actor Tom Owen has died at the age of 73, his family have announced.
The star appeared in the show from 2000 to 2010 as Tom Simmonite, the long-lost son of show favourite Compo - who had been played by his real-life father Bill Owen, who died days before he was offered the role.
Confirming his death, a statement said: "He passed away peacefully and is survived by his two children, James and William, and ex-wife, Mary."
Speaking at the time he joined Summer Wine in 2000, Owen remarked: "Dad loved the show and I think he would be very proud that it is going to continue, and in a way it's continuing in his memory. I think he would be very happy that I've taken his place."
Owen also appeared in shows such as The Bill and Upstairs Downstairs, as well as the 2018 film The Bromley Boys.
