Tony Maudsley has put to rest speculation about his future on Coronation Street by penning a new one-year contract with the soap.
The 57-year-old actor joined the cobbles in September 2020 as George Shuttleworth, son of the late undertaker Archie Shuttleworth (Roy Hudd), and has become a firm fan favourite.
For the last few years George has been a relationship with Eileen (Sue Cleaver), but with the Street legend due to depart after 25 years in the coming months, questions have been raised over whether George would also be leaving Weatherfield.
Posting a picture of himself outside the Rovers on social media, Maudsley wrote: "That's George serving (and burying) the good folk of Weatherfield till at least July 2026. Happy days!"
The news will take George, who also has sister Glenda (Jodie Prenger) on the Street, to at least six years on the cobbles. body check tags ::
