Result: England beat Australia to edge towards historic whitewash in five-match series

England lead Australia 4-0 in the Royal London series after another impressive display from the partnership of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow.

England have won their fourth consecutive one-day international of their five-match Royal London series against Australia as Jason Roy scored a remarkable century to secure the victory for Trevor Bayliss's side.

Despite Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch racking up some significant runs for Australia, England openers Roy and Jonny Bairstow hit a combined total of 174 to leave the Aussies chasing 311 on the day.

The brilliant partnership of Roy and Bairstow has seen the pair hit five centuries in just 16 games for England, averaging 68.62 for the first wicket.

Joe Root was able to last 10 overs and achieve 44 runs for Justin Langer's team, but the visitors fell short with a final score of 310-8.

Marsh and Finch were dismissed after reaching their centuries, which cost their side any hope of turning over England's total.

The game ended with the hosts winning by six wickets, and a fifth win at Old Trafford on Sunday will ensure their first ever ODI whitewash against Australia.
