New dad Jos Buttler is ready to set yet more England runscoring records as the hosts go all-out for the World Cup crown.

England will open their home World Cup against South Africa at The Oval on May 30, with talisman batsman Buttler hitting top form on Saturday with a  blistering century in the 12-run One-Day International win over Pakistan.

The 28-year-old toasted his ton with the classic baby-rocking celebration, with wife Louise and new arrival Georgia Rose watching on from the Southampton stands.

Buttler's 50-ball century in his unbeaten 110 was the second-fastest hundred in England ODI history, behind his own 46-ball effort against Pakistan in November 2015.

And now the Taunton-born run machine, who has scored five of England's 10 quickest ODI centuries, believes he can smash three figures even faster.

Asked if he can better his record century, Buttler replied: "Absolutely, definitely.

"When the opportunities arise, it gives you lots of confidence.

"We've seen other guys around the world show it's possible.

"In the last few years, I've had some brilliant experiences.

"A couple more years older and worked things out a bit better, managing to drip-feed them into my game really well.

"I'm really chasing that consistency and want to perform every day.

"That's been a big part of the last few years to try and be more consistent.

"When you manage to do that a couple of times, it breeds the confidence that you can do it for an elongated period of time."

Buttler's stunning form certainly merits him mimicking the baby-rocking celebration first popularised by Brazil's 1994 World Cup-winning squad in honour of forward Bebeto.

Who's the daddy? 😉

The Lancashire star is every bit as destructive and entertaining as Brazil's best, and the man himself is bubbling with pride – at both his current form and fatherhood.

"It is obviously really enjoyable when you can play in that fashion," said Buttler.

"It was a brilliant cricket wicket, for batting especially.

"We had a great platform set and it was great to go in in that situation and play in that fashion.

"I'm really lucky that I've got an amazing wife who is doing a great job and allowed me to get some sleep last night.

"All's going well so far, it's a great new addition to life and I'm really enjoying that.

"It puts cricket in perspective a bit which I've always enjoyed stuff that does that and she certainly does that.

"It was a special day, and they were there."
