Jonny Bairstow plays down Cameron Bancroft incident

England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow plays down an incident in a bar with Australian opener Cameron Bancroft, despite speculation over 'a headbutt'.

England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow has said that there has never been any animosity between himself and Australia opener Cameron Bancroft.

Over the weekend, reports claimed that Bairstow had 'headbutted' Bancroft in a bar soon after England's arrival on Australian soil, with the alleged incident being referred to on the field during the fourth day of the first Test match in Brisbane.

However, with Bancroft playing down the incident, Bairstow has admitted that he is keen to focus his attentions on trying to overturn a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-five series.

The 28-year-old told reporters: "I caught up with one of my friends and we went and caught up with some of the Western Australia guys after they'd just beaten Tasmania. We were in the bar having a good laugh and a good evening out. Cameron and I enjoyed the evening and continued to do so.

"There was no intent nor malice about anything during the evening. As you could see out there today, there's no animosity between myself, Cameron and any other of the Australian players.

"Hopefully now we can swipe this underneath the table, continue what's going to be a fantastic and exciting series and we move on from there."

On Monday, Australia completed a 10-wicket win, with Bancroft ending the second innings unbeaten on 82.
