Meg Lanning broke her own record for an individual score with 133 as Australia stormed to a 93-run victory in the first T20 of the Women's Ashes at Chelmsford.

The Australia captain hit 17 fours and seven sixes to reach her impressive total from just 63 deliveries in her side's total of 226 for three.

England could only manage 133 for nine in reply as Australia recorded a series win having already retained the Ashes after the drawn Test match.

In the first over of the game, Alyssa Healy hit the ball high and Natalie Sciver ran backwards to take a stunning catch above her head with both hands.

The early loss did not seem to harm Australia, as Lanning reached her half-century in the ninth over from just 24 balls. Beth Mooney reached the milestone the following over, from 28 deliveries.

With Lanning storming towards a century, Mooney hit one up in the air off the bowling of Sophie Ecclestone and was caught by Lauren Winfield.

England had an opportunity to dismiss Lanning, but the ball from Kate Cross was put down by Tammy Beaumont with the opener on 85.

Ashleigh Gardner was bowled by Ecclestone for a quickfire 27, but it made little difference to the Australian side's momentum in the final overs as Lanning completed and went beyond her century in an impressive total of 226.

In response, England got off to a poor start, losing Danielle Wyatt in the first over with just one run on the board after she skied the ball towards third man where Gardner ran in at took a diving one-handed catch to dismiss the opener.

The chase turned into a nightmare as Amy Jones was also caught for a duck just before Beaumont fell for eight to leave the home side on 12 for three after 2.4 overs.

England recovered slightly from 22 for four to reach 54 without further loss before Nat Sciver was caught and bowled by Sophie Molineux, but could not get near the Australia total, eventually falling far short on 133 for nine.
