Australia move in on fourth test, Ashes series victory

Australia are closing in on a fourth test - and 4-0 Ashes series - victory after finishing day four of the fifth test on 649-7, while restricting England to 93-4.

The Baggy Greens, who began the day looking to extend the 133-run advantage they had harboured from day three, started in solid fashion as Shaun Marsh took just five balls to earn his second century of the series.

While Marsh ended on an impressive 156, brother Mitchell Marsh also hit a ton, ending on 101 after being bowled out by Tom Curran immediately after reaching 100.

Moeen Ali took the only other two wickets on day four as Australia declared with a 303-run lead and put England into bat under considerable pressure.

The visitors, however, only managed 93 runs and conceded four wickets before the close of play - Alastair Cook reached 10 to move past 12,000 England Test runs, Mark Stoneman left the crease on a duck while James Vince (18) and Dawid Malan (5) failed to muster any further response.

England will begin day five with Joe Root (42no) and Jonny Bairstow (17no) leading the charge. Root's team need another 210 runs in the final day of the series to force Australia onto the crease again.
