US Open champion Emma Raducanu suffered a swift exit at the Indian Wells Masters during her first match since winning the Grand Slam title last month.

The British teenager came up against Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the second round but was comfortably dispatched by the World no. 111 - losing 6-2 6-4 in California.

Raducanu remained upbeat after the defeat, though, telling the press: "I think Aliaksandra played a great match. She was better than me today so she deserves to win. She's an extremely experienced opponent who has been on the Tour for many years.

"I'm kind of glad that what happened today happened so I can learn and take it as a lesson. There's going to be disappointment after any loss. I didn't go in there putting any pressure on myself because in my mind I'm so inexperienced that I'm just taking it all in."

Meanwhile, Raducanu's compatriot Andy Murray - who was recently reunited with his stolen shoes and wedding ring - eased to a 6-3 6-2 triumph over France's Adrian Mannarino to make the second round.

The three-time Grand Slam winner will now prepare for battle against 18-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, while Raducanu looks ahead to Moscow's Kremlin Cup later this month.
