Great Britain's Andy Murray and Dan Evans both booked their places in the quarter-finals of the Sydney Classic on Wednesday.

As one of the top four seeds, Evans received a bye into the second round of the tournament and comfortably saw off Spain's Pedro Martinez 6-2 6-3 to make the last eight.

Evans will now face either the USA's Maxime Cressy or Serbia's Dusan Lajovic, with the final last-16 clash set to take place on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, Murray enjoyed a straightforward route into the last-16 over Viktor Durasovic, but Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili made life extremely difficult for the three-time Grand Slam winner.

Murray lost the first set 6-7 before rallying to take a 7-6 win in the second set, and the Brit would ultimately see off his inspired opponent after taking the third set 6-3.

The 34-year-old will now take on former world number seven David Goffin for a spot in the semi-finals, and the prospect of an all-British final between Murray and Evans is very much alive.
