John Higgins has edged through to the World Snooker Championship semi-finals with a gutsy victory over Jack Lisowski.

The legendary Scot found himself 8-5 at the midway point of the contest, but it was Lisowski who looked favourite to progress after moving 12-11 in front.

However, it was four-time champion Higgins who came through in a decider, firing in a 72 break to set up a showdown with long-time rival Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Earlier in the night, Judd Trump completed a remarkable turnaround in his match with Stuart Bingham, the 2019 champion reeling off eight frames in a row to seal a 13-8 victory.

Trump will now square off against three-time winner Mark Williams, who had to work significantly harder to overcome Yan Bingtao.

At one stage on Wednesday, Williams found himself 10-8 adrift to the 22-year-old Chinese, but he showed all of his experience to battle his way to win by a 13-11 scoreline.

On Wednesday morning, O'Sullivan took just 20 minutes to wrap up a 13-5 triumph over Stephen Maguire. body check tags ::
