Wilfried Zaha reveals racist abuse after pre-season friendly

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha claims that he was subjected to racist abuse from Manchester United and Liverpool fans following his performance against West Brom.

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has claimed that he was racially abused on social media following his side's 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in Hong Kong today.

Zaha helped the Eagles to a third-place finish in the Premier League Asia Trophy, but after the match Palace boss Frank de Boer criticised the physical treatment Zaha suffered at the hands of some of the West Brom players.

The 24-year-old subsequently suggested on his Instagram story that he had been subjected to racist abuse by fans of former club Manchester United and Liverpool, of which there is a large contingent in Hong Kong.

"If Man United and Liverpool fans feel better by calling me a black monkey in my messages .. feel free to carry on if it makes your day better," Zaha wrote.

Zaha had earlier featured against Liverpool in the semi-final of the pre-season tournament, which Jurgen Klopp's side went on to win with victory in the final against Leicester City this afternoon.
