Manchester United are reportedly confident that they will not suffer a £75m financial setback as a result of Adidas' money troubles during the coronavirus crisis.

Manchester United are reportedly optimistic that they will not be affected by Adidas' financial problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Red Devils are halfway through a 10-year, £750m sponsorship deal with the German sportswear manufacturer, but concerns have grown regarding the impact of the coronavirus on Adidas' finances.

The company has reportedly asked the German government for a £1.75bn bailout, despite recording a global turnover of almost £22bn and cash revenues of £873m last year.

Adidas also reportedly missed a payment of less than £1.5m to Brazilian club side Flamengo at the start of the month without any warning.

However, United are confident that the issue is only with the South American branch of the company, with a club insider telling The Mirror: "We have not had any contact with Adidas which would suggest they will have a problem meeting their contractual obligation with us.

"As such, we don't expect that any payments will be missed or deferred."

United are one of six Premier League clubs to have their kits manufactured by Adidas, along with Arsenal, Leicester City, Sheffield United, Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A number of other major clubs around Europe, including Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern Munich, are also sponsored by the German kit giants.
