Anthony Martial leaves Manchester United's pre-season tour of United States

Manchester United winger Anthony Martial leaves the club's pre-season tour of the United States to attend the birth of his child amid speculation over his future.

Manchester United winger Anthony Martial has been allowed to leave the club's pre-season tour of the United States in order to attend the birth of his child.

Martial's future has been the subject of intense debate in recent weeks, with the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund all credited with an interest in the winger.

The 22-year-old is eager to leave Old Trafford this summer in search of more regular first-team football, having fallen down the pecking order following the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez and subsequently missed out on a place in France's victorious World Cup squad.

Martial has been more involved during pre-season for United so far, but that is largely down to the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, both of whom have been given extended breaks following their World Cup exploits.

The Frenchman has now been granted permission to return home and be with his pregnant girlfriend ahead of United's International Champions Cup clash with AC Milan in the early hours of Thursday morning.
