Tony Finau has made it back-to-back victories on the PGA Tour by prevailing at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Not so long ago, the American faced question marks over his ability to get over the line having gone five years without winning a tournament.

However, Finau has now won three competitions in less than 12 months, his success in Detroit coming a week after he claimed the 3M Open title.

The world number 16 started the final round level with Taylor Pendrith, but the pair went in opposite directions on Sunday.

By the 12th hole, Finau had moved three shots ahead of the Canadian, with Patrick Cantlay seemingly emerging as his most likely rival for the trophy.

An eagle at 14 kept him in the mix but Finau showed little sign of feeling any pressure with birdies at 14 and 17 providing him with a five-shot lead heading into the final hole.

Finau ended the day and tournament with a par, his finishing total of 26-under-par setting a new tournament scoring record.

Cantlay, Pendrith and Cameron Young all finished in a share of second spot, while Stephan Jaeger completed the top five a shot further back.

A final-round 66 earned England's Matt Wallace a tie for 10th place, keeping him in contention to reach the Fedex Cup playoffs.

Meanwhile, Henrik Stenson has marked his debut with LIV Golf by recording a two-shot victory in Bedminster.

The Swede, who has come in for fierce criticism for giving up his Ryder Cup captaincy role to move to the controversial new tour, led the tournament from start to finish to post his most notable triumph for a number of years.

A superb up and down out of the bunker on the penultimate hole kept Stenson in control, and a par on the last ensured that he finished ahead of Dustin Johnson and Matthew Wolff.

Carlos Ortiz and Patrick Reed completed the top five, ending the competition at least three shots clear of the rest of the field. body check tags ::
