Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly submitted a club-record, £36.8m bid for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have pursued several midfield targets this summer and had been closing in on a deal for Southampton's Mario Lemina, only for talks to allegedly break down at the last moment due to a disagreement over the structure of the transfer.

According to La Voix du Nord, Wolves have now submitted a bid of €40m (£36.8m) to French side Lille for 20-year-old Soumare, who is out of contract in just 12 months and has also been watched by Newcastle United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The publication claims, however, that the Ligue 1 outfit will only agree to the deal if they can have the player back on loan for the 2019-20 campaign, a condition that Wolves are said to have agreed to.

Should the deal go through, Wolves will have broken their transfer record twice this summer window, having already signed striker Raul Jimenez for a fee of £36m.
