Wolves boss Bruno Lage admits Raul Jimenez at fault for red card

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Bruno Lage acknowledges that Raul Jimenez deserved to be sent off against Manchester City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Bruno Lage has acknowledged that he could have few complaints with Raul Jimenez's red card against Manchester City.

Jimenez received two yellow cards within a minute, the second being given for intercepting a free kick, which he had initially conceded, from a yard away having previously been told to move 10 yards.

While there was an argument that the Mexican was harshly booked for the first incident, a sentiment shared by Lage, the Portuguese admitted that the referee had little choice with the second caution.

Speaking to BT Sport, Lage said: "He knows, he knows. He cannot do that. I have already spoken to him. We cannot have anyone to do that.

"His response when I went into the dressing room, I can see his face. I am disappointed for him."

Jimenez will now miss Wednesday's Premier League encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion at Molineux.

Wolves eventually succumbed by a 1-0 scoreline at the Etihad Stadium, a consequence of a contentious penalty decision which went against them. body check tags ::
