West Ham United hope to have Declan Rice fit and available again for Sunday's Premier League clash against Everton, with manager David Moyes revealing that the England midfielder is "back [training] on the grass" and edging closer to a return.

The 22-year-old has not featured since sustaining a knee injury during England's 2-1 win against Poland in March, missing West Ham's five league matches since as they aim to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in the club's history.

Moyes stopped short of revealing whether Rice would recover in time to start against Everton, however, so he could instead be used from the substitutes' bench in order to gain match fitness.

The 58-year-old selected an unusually attacking lineup for Monday's crucial 2-1 win at Burnley, with Manuel Lanzini handed a deep-lying midfield role alongside Tomas Soucek behind a front-line of Said Benrahma, Jesse Lingard, Pablo Fornals and the returning Michail Antonio.

Antonio scored two superb goals to flip the match at Turf Moor on its head after Chris Wood's penalty had provided the hosts with an early lead, with Aaron Cresswell also impressing at left-back upon his return from injury.

Captain Mark Noble, Arthur Masuaku and Angelo Ogbonna all remain injury doubts, though, with none of them likely to be risked from the start against Everton.

Having scored three goals in his previous five matches, meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen will be hoping to return to the starting XI having only been used from the bench against Burnley.

West Ham United possible starting lineup: Fabianski; Coufal, Dawson, Diop, Cresswell; Soucek, Lanzini; Bowen, Lingard, Fornals; Antonio
