Jermaine Pennant 'joins non-league Billericay Town'

Former Liverpool star Jermaine Pennant reportedly agrees to join non-league side Billericay Town.

Former Liverpool and Arsenal star Jermaine Pennant has reportedly agreed to join non-league outfit Billericay Town.

The 34-year-old will earn £3,000 a week with the part-timers, who play in a division where the average wage is just £200, according to The Sun.

Pennant is said to have rejected a move to Hibernian, having completed a short trial with the Scottish outfit, to join Billericay, who are owned by steel magnate Glenn Tamplin.

The club's spending power has enabled them to recruit two other ex-Premier League players of late, with Paul Konchesky and Jamie O'Hara signing up last season.

Tamplin is aiming to help Billericay secure a place in the Football League within the next seven years.
