Paul Clement: 'New striker a priority for Swansea City'

Paul Clement says that "it is clear" Swansea City need to strengthen in January following their struggles so far this term, particularly up top.

Swansea City manager Paul Clement has admitted that he is desperate to strengthen in attack once the transfer window opens next month.

The Swans are the lowest scorers in the Premier League, finding the net just nine times in their opening 17 matches - four fewer than next-worst West Bromwich Albion.

Tammy Abraham has been responsible for four of those, but Clement has attempted to change things around of late and is aware that financial backing is a must heading into the second half of the campaign.

"The owners know it's clear we need to strengthen," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying. "My view is that we have to strengthen the forward positions as a priority.

"You look at the goals and ability to create, it's nowhere near what you need to stay in this league. This is the priority but I don't go into the Everton game with any fear."

Swansea have attempted just 33 shots on target in their 17 Premier League games this season.
