Tottenham Hotspur scouted Villarreal's Pau Torres and Arnaut Danjuma in the club's Champions League semi-finals defeat to Liverpool, according to a report.

The duo were both in the starting 11 for the Spanish side's 2-0 defeat at Anfield on April 27, and whilst the latter was ruled out of the return leg at the Estadio de la Ceramica through injury, Torres again played the full 90 minutes as Villarreal were defeated 3-2 on the night, and 5-2 on aggregate.

The pair were watched by Spurs scouts during both legs according to 90min, with the report outlining how the sole purpose of the trips was focused entirely around the Villarreal duo.

Torres revealed towards the end of 2021 how he supposedly turned down a move to Spurs last summer, with the desire to play Champions League football with Villarreal being his primary reason.

However, with Unai Emery's side occupying seventh place in La Liga as things stand, and finding themselves nine points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid with only four games left to play, it is unlikely that they will be playing in the competition again next season.

Torres has featured in 42 appearances across all competitions for Villarreal so far this season, whilst Danjuma has appeared 34 times, scoring 16 goals and registering four assists. body check tags ::
