Inter Milan 'weighing up Jan Vertonghen swoop'

Inter Milan are eyeing a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur central defender Jan Vertonghen, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has reportedly emerged as a target for Inter Milan.

The Belgium international will see his contract with Spurs expire at the end of the season, and it seems unlikely that the 32-year-old will be signing fresh terms at the club.

Vertonghen has made nine appearances for Mauricio Pochettino's side this term but was an unused substitute during Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

According to Sky in Italy, Inter boss Antonio Conte is an admirer of the experienced defender and is keen to bring him to Milan either in January or at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Vertonghen would be able to sign a pre-contract with Inter at the start of 2020 with a view to joining the club on a free transfer ahead of next season.

Last week, former Spurs forward Darren Bent claimed that Arsenal could make an attempt to land the Belgian, who is closing in on 300 appearances for his current club.
