Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa has reportedly asked to leave Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard has made only seven appearances for the club this season and has fallen behind new arrival Luis Suarez and club-record signing Joao Felix.

Journalist Tancredi Palmeri has claimed that the 32-year-old has requested to leave the club in January, despite having only six months left on his current contract.

Atletico have already decided that they will not extend Costa's current deal which would allow him to leave for free next summer, but Costa is keen for an exit next month.

Palmeri also suggested that Atletico are ready to 'dissolve' Costa's contract in January, with the Daily Mail reporting that the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain are ready to revive their interest in the striker.

After a successful time with Chelsea where he scored 52 Premier League goals between 2014 and 2017, Costa has only found the back of the net 12 times in La Liga since returning to Atletico three years ago. body check tags ::
