Tottenham Hotspur 'expect Antonio Conte to stay despite exit hints'

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly expect Antonio Conte to stay at the club despite the Italian hinting that he could leave after Wednesday's loss to Burnley.

Tottenham Hotspur are not expecting Antonio Conte to leave the club in the wake of their most recent defeat, according to a report.

The ex-Chelsea and Inter Milan boss cut a disconsolate figure as his side went down 1-0 to Burnley in Wednesday's Premier League clash, as Ben Mee headed home the only goal of the contest.

Spurs have now lost four of their last five in the top flight under Conte and remain eighth in the table - seven points off the Champions League places with two games in hand on Manchester United.

Following Wednesday's defeat, Conte admitted that Spurs would need to make an "assessment" on his future and hinted that he might not be in North London for the long run.

However, the Daily Mail claims that Tottenham still expect the Italian to remain in control of the reins, and he retains the full support of chairman Daniel Levy.

The report adds that Conte's comments were largely borne out of frustration to Spurs' January transfer window, in which they missed out on Adama Traore and Luis Diaz's signatures.

Spurs will be aiming for an immediate return to winning ways when they make the journey to Elland Road on Saturday to take on Leeds United. body check tags ::
