A last-gasp header from Harry Winks gives Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 victory over Fulham in Sunday's Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.

Tottenham Hotspur have strengthened their hold of third place in the Premier League table with a dramatic 2-1 win over Fulham in Sunday's clash at Craven Cottage.

An own goal from Fernando Llorente had given Fulham the lead, but a second-half header from Dele Alli appeared to have earned Spurs a share of the spoils.

However, Harry Winks's header in the third minute of added-on time moved Spurs four points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea, and left Fulham seven points adrift of safety.

Spurs went into the game without both Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, but the visitors began on top with Christian Eriksen lashing a long-range effort wide from 25 yards out.

However, Fulham should have gone in front soon afterwards through debutant Ryan Babel, but the Dutchman was denied by Hugo Lloris after getting the better of Davinson Sanchez and advancing into the penalty area.

The move led to Fulham getting on top and their opener arrived five minutes later, with Llorente diverting the ball into his own net from close range after being seemingly distracted by the players competing for the ball in front of him from a corner.

Llorente almost redeemed himself with a header at the other end - only to send it straight at Sergio Rico from 10 yards out - but although Spurs were dominating possession, they were struggling to create anything of note in the final third.

Fulham finished the first half on the front foot and moments after Babel had sent a header marginally over the crossbar, Lloris had to be alert to keep out a well-struck volley from Andre Schurrle.

Spurs were grateful for the half-time whistle and the visitors returned for the restart a different side, with Pochettino's side requiring just six minutes to get back on level terms.

A mistake from Tim Ream led to Eriksen getting the chance to send a floated cross into the box, and Alli was waiting at the back post to power a header into the corner from close range.

Fulham responded positively to being brought back on level terms, but Spurs nearly went ahead on the hour mark as Danny Rose struck the crossbar with a right-footed effort from 15 yards out.

The home side were playing on the break and it meant that clear-cut opportunities were a rarity, with only Joe Bryan threatening a goal with a weak effort from the edge of the area.

Llorente had only offered a minimal threat for Spurs, and with eight minutes remaining the stand-in forward somehow failed to hit the target with a glancing header after getting on the end of Rose's free kick.

The game was petering out towards a draw but in the third minute of added-on time, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou picked out the run of Winks who powered a header into the net from close range to seal a dramatic - and equally important - three points for the visitors.

FULHAM (3-4-3): Rico; Odoi, Le Marchand, Ream; Christie, Chambers, Seri (Cisse 81'), Bryan; Schurrle (Kebano 72'), Mitrovic, Babel (Sessegnon 55')

TOTTENHAM (3-4-3): Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Eriksen, Winks, Rose; Lamela (Dier 79'), Llorente, Alli (N'Koudou 86')
