Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo confirms Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura will miss Wednesday's EFL Cup trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers due to injury.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that attacking duo Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura will miss Wednesday night's EFL Cup clash away at Wolverhampton Wanderers due to injury.

Both players started in the 2-2 draw against Rennes in the Europa Conference League last week, but were not involved on Sunday when Spurs lost 3-0 at home to London rivals Chelsea.

Bergwijn was taken off after 30 minutes against Rennes, and was later pictured wearing a protective boot on his foot.

Speaking about both players to the press ahead of Tottenham's trip to Molineux, Nuno said: "Unfortunately they will not be with us.

"[Bergwijn] has an injury on his foot, a sprain, he twisted his ankle. It's very, very painful and the decision was to protect his foot and at the same time keep doing upper body workouts and try to maintain as fit as possible.

"But the injury needs to settle down and prevent him from feeling pain. It's very painful now."

Moura is suffering with a knock to his ankle and, along with Bergwijn, is doubtful for next weekend's North London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. body check tags ::
