Son Heung-min: 'South Korea won't give up on World Cup progression'

Forward Son Heung-min says that South Korea still believe that they can secure progress through to the last 16 of the World Cup.

Son Heung-min has said that South Korea have not given up hopes of securing a place in the last 16 of the World Cup.

South Korea have already suffered defeats to both Sweden and Mexico, and the Asian nation face defending champions Germany - who also require a positive result - on Wednesday.

Only a convincing victory over Germany and defeat for Sweden against Mexico will maintain South Korea's hopes of qualifying from Group F, but despite acknowledging that his team are underdogs, Son insists that their World Cup 'is not over'.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "The World Cup isn't over for us yet. There is only a 1% chance for us - but even with just a 1% chance we have hope. We will not give up.

"Germany are a lot stronger than us but the ball is round. I believe we can do it if we play a game with no regrets."

Son's 25-yard strike against Mexico on Saturday is South Korea's only goal at this year's tournament.
