Sheffield United have reportedly joined Fulham in the race for Rangers striker Kemar Roofe ahead of the summer transfer window.

Since joining the Glasgow-based club from Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht in August 2020 for £4.5m, the attacker has featured in 99 matches, scoring on 38 occasions.

Roofe helped Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title under the leadership of Steven Gerrard during the 2020-21 campaign, before being part of the Gers side that reached the Europa League final the following season.

Due to a number of injury issues this term, the former Leeds United man has only featured in 12 Premiership matches for Phillipe Clement's side as they hunt down the Scottish crown.

In fact, Roofe has not started a league match since the 3-0 success at St Mirren on October 8, managing 11 substitute appearances since across all competitions.

Sheffield United, Fulham to battle for Rangers' Roofe?

According to Football Insider, a pair of Premier League clubs are monitoring Roofe's situation at Ibrox ahead of potential summer swoops for the player.

The report claims that both Sheffield United and Fulham are keen on securing the services of the 31-year-old, who could be coming towards the end of his time in Glasgow.

Roofe's current deal at Rangers expires at the conclusion of the season, meaning that he will be able to depart on a free transfer during the summer window.

With their Premier League status officially secured for another campaign, Marco Silva's Cottagers are looking to bolster their forward line to support the likes of Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez.

Contrastingly, Chris Wilder's Blades are in serious danger of an immediate return to the Championship, with United currently 10 points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest in the top-flight table.

Southampton, Queens Park Rangers also keen on Rangers man Roofe

On top of the aforementioned Premier League clubs, it is understood that Championship duo Southampton and QPR are also interested in signing Roofe on a free transfer during the summer.

The promotion-chasing Saints dipped into last summer's market for a new striker, however Ross Stewart has spent the vast majority of the term sidelined due to a muscle injury.

Russell Martin's troops have fared well this season despite the 27-year-old's absence, though, with Adam Armstrong firing in 20 goals for the South-coast club in the Championship.

QPR have been reliant on the towering presence of Lyndon Dykes in attack over recent matches due to the absence of fellow striker Michael Frey because of a leg issue.
