How Scotland could line up against Croatia

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Scotland could line up for their Euro 2020 clash with Croatia on Tuesday.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has been dealt a major blow with the COVID-positive Billy Gilmour ahead of their final Group D game of Euro 2020 against Croatia.

Gilmour's 40 completed passes during his man-of-the-match performance against England was the most out of any player in blue, but the Chelsea starlet is now self-isolating after contracting coronavirus, meaning that Stuart Armstrong could be trusted in the engine room for this encounter.

Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney returned from injury to play a starring role at Wembley on Friday, so the former Celtic man should feature alongside Grant Hanley and Scott McTominay in front of David Marshall.

Motherwell's Stephen O'Donnell also garnered praise for his performance in the English capital and is set to continue on the right, while Andy Robertson is untouchable on the opposite side.

John McGinn and Callum McGregor are expected to keep their places in the middle of the park, while Armstrong, John Fleck and McTominay - who could possibly be moved back into the midfield - are all options to deputise for Gilmour.

Scotland are yet to find the back of the net at Euro 2020, and Kevin Nisbet will hope to be the man to end that drought as he pushes for a start, but Clarke is likely to keep faith in Che Adams and Lyndon Dykes from the first whistle here.

Scotland possible starting lineup: Marshall; McTominay, Hanley, Tierney; O'Donnell, McGregor, Armstrong, McGinn, Robertson; Dykes, Adams
