Sports Mole previews Saturday's Belarusian top-flight clash between Rukh Brest and Gorodeya, including predictions, form guide and head-to-head records.

Rukh Brest and Gorodeya will meet for the first time in their respective histories on Saturday afternoon.

The majority of football across the globe has been called off due to the coronavirus outbreak, but the Belarusian Premier League is continuing, and the second of three fixtures on Saturday will see the recently-formed Rukh welcome Gorodeya to the Yunost Stadium.

Match preview

Rukh were founded in 2016 as an amateur team before becoming a feeder club for Dinamo Brest, joining the Belarusian Second League in the process. They actually won the third tier in their debut season and subsequently ended their partnership with Dinamo Brest to become an independent side.

A third-placed finish in last season's Belarusian First League was enough to earn promotion to the top flight, and they have made an encouraging start to the campaign, picking up eight points from their six matches.

A total of eight points has left them in 12th position in the table - four spots off the bottom - but they are only two points off fourth-placed BATE Borisov and just five points from the top of the table after six fixtures.

Aleksandr Sednyov's side opened their 2020 season with a 1-0 victory at Dinamo Minsk before losing their last two against Energetyk-BGU and BATE Borisov; a goalless draw away to Slavia followed, though, before returning to winning ways at home to FC Minsk on April 18.

Rukh will enter this match off the back of a goalless draw away to Torpedo-BelAZ last weekend, and there is no question that the fans will be encouraged by their side's start to the season.

Gorodeya, meanwhile, occupy ninth spot in the table with nine points to show from their six matches, picking up three wins and three defeats during an inconsistent start.

Oleg Radushko's side posted seventh in the Belarusian Premier League last term, following on from three successive ninth-placed finishes. They are not expected to challenge higher up the table this season, but a record of three victories thus far is not a bad return all things considered.

Gorodeya opened their campaign with back-to-back defeats to Vitebsk and Shakhtyor Soligorsk before recording three straight wins against Belshina, Dinamo Minsk and Energetyk-BGU.

The visitors, who made their Vysheyshaya Liga debut in 2015, lost 2-0 at home to BATE Borisov last weekend, but they have been victorious in each of their last two league matches on their travels.

Head To Head

As mentioned, this will be the first time that these two sides have met in a competitive match.

Rukh are in their debut campaign as a top-flight side and will therefore be taking on a number of teams for the first time in their history during the season.

We say: Rukh Brest 0-1 Gorodeya

Rukh can be pleased with their start to the season, and they are only actually a point off Gorodeya ahead of Saturday's clash. Radushko's side have won their last two matches away from home, however, and we fancy them to pick up another three points at the Yunost Stadium this weekend.
