Ross Barkley future

The future of Everton midfielder Ross Barkley is expected to come under the microscope again during the January transfer window with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur understood to be interested in signing the England international.

Barkley was close to leaving Everton during the summer and had even undergone a medical with Chelsea ahead of a proposed £35m deal, but the move broke down at the 11th hour.

The 24-year-old was told that he has no future under former Everton boss Ronald Koeman, but new manager Sam Allardyce is understood to be keen to keep the midfielder at Goodison Park.

However, Barkley - who is yet to play this season due to injury - is out of contract in the summer and so could be available for a cut-price fee.
