Real Madrid 'to offer Luka Modric new one-year contract'

:Headline: Real Madrid 'to offer Luka Modric new one-year contract':
Real Madrid want Luka Modric to sign a new one-year contract at the club, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to offer Luka Modric a new one-year contract at the club.

The 35-year-old's existing deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire next summer, meaning that as it stands he would be free to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.

Modric was a key part of Madrid's 2019-20 La Liga title success, though, and he has started three of the team's first four league games of the current season.

According to Sport, Los Blancos - back in action against Cadiz on Saturday - are keen for the Croatia international to pen fresh terms until the summer of 2022.

Modric has featured on 347 occasions for Madrid since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, contributing 22 goals and 55 assists in the process.

The experienced midfielder played the full 90 minutes in both of Croatia's UEFA Nations League clashes with Sweden and France on October 11 and October 14 respectively. body check tags ::
