How Real Madrid could line up against Getafe

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Real Madrid could line up in Sunday's La Liga clash with Getafe.

Real Madrid will be aiming to record their 21st La Liga victory of the season when they take on Getafe on Sunday evening.

Zinedine Zidane's side, who are currently second in the table, one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid, will be without a number of important players this weekend through injury and suspension.

Indeed, Casemiro is suspended due to the red card that he picked up in the 2-1 win over Barcelona, while Nacho's booking in the same match means that the centre-back is also banned.

Sergio Ramos, who recently tested positive for coronavirus, is still out with a calf problem, while Lucas Vazquez will miss the remainder of the season with a knee problem.

Raphael Varane had been tipped to make his return on Sunday following a period on the sidelines due to a positive coronavirus test, but the France international has been left out of the squad, meaning that there could be a start in the middle of the defence for 21-year-old Victor Chust, who featured in the reverse match with Getafe at the start of February.

The contest has also come too soon for Dani Carvajal, so Alvaro Odriozola could start at right-back, while Eden Hazard is still not available despite continuing his recovery from a muscular issue during Friday's training session.

Federico Valverde had been tipped to start, but the Uruguay international has been ruled out of the game at the final moment, having been forced to self-isolate after coming into contact with a person who tested positive for coronavirus.

Isco could feature alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield, while Karim Benzema is also expected to be in the XI despite some concern over a knock for the experienced striker.

There will also have to be a change at left-back as Ferland Mendy picked up a muscular issue on Saturday morning, meaning that Marcelo should feature in the starting XI.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Courtois; Odriozola, Militao, Chust, Marcelo; Modric, Isco, Kroos; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius
