Carlo Ancelotti: 'Real Madrid cannot just focus on Kylian Mbappe'

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti says his side cannot afford to only focus on stopping Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe on Wednesday.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that his side cannot afford to only focus on stopping Kylian Mbappe in Wednesday's Champions League last-16 second leg with Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe scored the only goal of the first leg in Paris to hand the French giants a slight advantage ahead of the return fixture at Bernabeu.

The spotlight will be on the France international, who is widely expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, but Ancelotti has said that the Spanish giants must also deal with the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi if they are to progress to the final eight.

"We have a plan not only for Mbappe, but also for Neymar, Messi and all of PSG's top players," Ancelotti told reporters. "The plan is to play as a block, with the ball and without the ball, to put in intensity, to endure the 90 minutes, and to play a complete game.

"It has to be an intelligent game, we don't have to go crazy. We have to win the game. We don't have to score many goals, we just have to win it. You can go ahead immediately or in the last minute, the important thing is to keep the game alive and play with intensity."

Mbappe has been in impressive form for PSG during the 2021-22 campaign, finding the back of the net on 24 occasions in 34 appearances in all competitions, in addition to contributing 17 assists. body check tags ::
