Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema has admitted that he still harbours dreams of winning the Ballon d'Or one day.

The France international continues to prove his worth to Los Blancos at the age of 33, beginning the 2021-22 La Liga season with five goals and four assists in four matches.

However, Benzema's best finish in Ballon d'Or voting saw him finish 16th in 2014, and the striker has affirmed that he is still dreaming of claiming the coveted trophy.

Speaking ahead of Real's Champions League opener with Inter Milan, Benzema said: "[Winning the Ballon d'Or] does not make me lose any sleep, although it is a dream for every player. What I want is to help the team. Every player wants to win it and so do I."

The former Lyon man boasts a remarkable haul of 284 goals and 148 assists from 563 games in a Real Madrid shirt, winning four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles over the past 12 years.
