Sports Mole looks at how Portugal could line up in Thursday's UEFA Nations League clash with Spain.

Portugal boss Fernando Santos is expected to name a strong side for Thursday's UEFA Nations League contest with Spain in Seville.

Manchester City's Ruben Dias is out of the contest through injury, so Danilo is again likely to feature alongside Pepe in the middle of the defence, although David Carmo and Domingos Duarte are also options.

Joao Cancelo and Raphael Guerreiro are likely to play in the full-back positions for the visitors, while there are not expected to be any surprises further forward.

Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva are likely to be joined by Joao Moutinho in midfield, although Ruben Neves, William Carvalho and Joao Palhinha are also pushing for starts in the UEFA Nations League contest.

Diogo Jota should start despite being involved in the Champions League final, while Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line on his 187th appearance for the national team.

Ronaldo missed Manchester United's final match of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign due to a hip problem but is available to start for his country on Thursday night.

Porto's Otavio could get the nod off the right, but Santos has named a number of attackers in his squad, so Andre Silva, Goncalo Guedes, Rafael Leao and Ricardo Horta are also in contention to start.

Portugal possible starting lineup: Patricio; Cancelo, Pepe, Danilo, Guerreiro; Fernandes, Moutinho, Bernardo; Otavio, Ronaldo, Jota
