Notts County win Gary Jones red card appeal

Notts County midfielder Gary Jones's red card against Yeovil Town is overturned by the FA.

Notts County have won their appeal to overturn Gary Jones's recent red card against Yeovil Town.

The midfielder was sent off for a challenge on Nathan Smith during County's 2-1 defeat at home on Saturday.

However, Jones will now be available for his side's trip to Sheffield United on Friday.

"I've no doubt that the sending off contributed hugely to our defeat, however I'm delighted that common sense has prevailed and the FA have seen sense to uphold our appeal on this occasion, meaning neither the football club or Gary Jones will be penalised further than they already have been," Magpies chief executive Jim Rodwell told the club's official website.

Notts County are currently in sixth place in the League One table.
