On-loan full-back Matt Targett admits that he hopes a move to Newcastle United can be made permanent in the summer transfer window.

On-loan full-back Matt Targett has revealed that he is enjoying his time at Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old joined the Magpies in January until the end of the season after his parent club Aston Villa decided to bring in Lucas Digne.

Since that point, the Englishman has made 10 appearances in the Premier League for Eddie Howe's team, and it has led to the defender being interested in staying at the club.

"I am sure, and hope they can sort something out for me. For sure it (decision time) is coming closer so at the moment I am really enjoying my time here and loving playing in front of the Geordie fans here," Targett told the press.

"That is just the way it is. A new manager came in and he might fancy you, so you look elsewhere. This was a massive challenge. I think the club were 19th in the table."

Newcastle have seen improvements over the second half of the campaign, climbing up the division away from the relegation zone to 14th. body check tags ::
