Newcastle United have reportedly targeted former Chelsea managers Frank Lampard and Antonio Conte as possible replacements for current boss Steve Bruce, should their imminent takeover go ahead.

With a Saudi consortium said to be within days of completing a deal to take control of the club, rumours have started to swirl around the changes that will be brought about at St. James' Park, with a new manager expected to be one of the top priorities for the new owners.

According to football.london, the Magpies have set their sights on Frank Lampard and Antonio Conte as possible replacements for the 60-year-old, who took charge at the beginning of the 2019-20 season.

After two campaigns of consolidating their Premier League status under Bruce, the St. James' Park outfit are yet to win any of their first seven games of the new domestic term, sitting in 19th spot with just three points as a result.

Such a start has led to rumours that the new hierarchy would look to replace the current boss, with two previous Chelsea bosses currently leading the way to take over in the North East.

Lampard has been without a job since his departure from the Blues in January, while the Italian won the Premier League at Stamford Bridge in the 2016-17 season, and went on to fire Inter Milan to the Serie A title last term. body check tags ::
