Netherlands boss Frank de Boer will be tempted to go with the same XI which dispatched Ukraine in their thrilling 3-2 victory on Sunday when they take on Austria on Thursday.

Despite his side throwing away a two-goal lead in the second half, Oranje's overall performance more than justified the 51-year-old's favoured 3-5-2 system and starting lineup.

Denzel Dumfries, who scored the 85th minute winner, and Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt impressed as wing-backs, allowing the other two goalscorers Wout Weghorst and Georginio Wijnaldum plenty of space inside to support the mercurial Memphis Depay in attack.

Marten de Roon was favoured ahead of Ryan Gravenberch alongside Frenkie de Jong at the base of the Netherlands' midfield, although Gravenberch will be hoping to be involved at some point on Thursday after failing to get on against Ukraine.

The Netherlands' only change could come in defence, with Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt back in training after missing out on his side's opener with a groin injury.

However, De Boer may feel that there is no reason to risk the 21-year-old with more important matches surely on the horizon, in which case teenager Jurrien Timber would continue alongside the more experienced duo of Daley Blind and Stefan de Vrij in defence.

Martin Stekelenburg, who became the Netherlands' oldest ever representative at a European Championship against Ukraine at 38 years of age, looks to have the edge over Norwich City's Tim Krul in goal for this tournament.

Netherlands possible starting lineup:
Stekelenburg; Timber, De Vrij, Blind; Dumfries, De Roon, De Jong, Wijnaldum, Van Aanholt; Depay, Weghorst
