Manchester United promise Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he will have money to improve the squad this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly been promised that he will have money to improve the squad during this summer's transfer window.

The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on finances across the football world, and it is currently unclear whether many of the major European clubs will have the funds to spend big in the upcoming market.

According to ESPN, Solskjaer has been informed that the 20-time English champions will be 'cautious with their finances' due to the current state of affairs, but the Norwegian has been promised money to improve the squad.

The report claims that United are preparing to bring a new centre-back to the club ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, with Sevilla's Jules Kounde and Real Madrid's Raphael Varane on a five-man shortlist.

The Red Devils could also allegedly sign Jadon Sancho for as little as £50m during this summer's transfer window due to Borussia Dortmund's financial difficulties.

United are currently second in the Premier League table, while they will take on Real Sociedad in the last-32 stage of the Europa League and Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
